About National Trust A La Ronde

The House  A la Ronde is a sixteen-sided building full of creative treasures from around the world. The hexadecagonal building was the work of Jane and Mary Parminter in 1796. See the fantastic shell and feather designs throughout the house, find out about the creative designs and ask about the one and only male owner. With the 360’ touchscreen virtual tour every visitor can get up close to the shell ceiling and view it as intended by the Parminters from the Octagon.
Around the grounds  At A la Ronde you can experience the original spiritual harmony created by the Parminter cousins within the orchard, hay meadow and gardens. Take in the spectacular view of the estuary and enjoy the garden games and croquet. The perimeter walk offers a lovely short walk for dogs on leads. Assistance dogs can access all areas.
Tea-Room  Go through the key-hole shaped door to the cosy tea-room or sit outside to admire the view with delicious hot and cold light lunches, cakes and home-made scones.
Shop  Located in the original stables, visit the shop for heritage inspired and contemporary gifts, locally made food and keepsakes. Browse our wide range of locally produced treats and take away a taste of Devon.
Pre-loved books  There is a pre-loved book shed located in the old wagon-shed next to shop full of fiction, children’s books, puzzles and reference books. Look out for your favourite author or perhaps discover some new ones.
